So hey, 2024. I photographed the first live show of the year on Tuesday, and it was a banger FOR SURE. High energy punk at one of my fave Nashville venues, The Basement East. Four bands I'd never seen before kept it lively and the audience was all about it with stage diving and circle pits. So who kept us moving? Death Lens, Spiritual Cramp, Pool Kids, and tour headliner Militarie Gun. I'm still warming up those deep-frozen words, so I'll let the music and photographs do most of the talking today.
A couple of caveats: y'all know how I feel about red light. I've learned to live with it. Also: sometimes in crowded shows, you can't easily move around as much and you have to pick one position and make the best of THAT (especially when you only get to shoot for the first three songs). That said, onward!
Death Lens!
10/10 would photograph again, and I'm looking forward to the release of their album "Cold World" in May.
Spiritual Cramp lit me up, for sure.
Pool Kids were new to me, although not new visitors to Nashville.
The main event was Militarie Gun, and the crowd went wild.
Welcome back to the Light Pours Out of Me Blog. I hope there will be much rocking out this year and I'll take you along with me as much as I can. I hope January didn't break you, and be excellent to each other out there until I talk to you again.
