This #guitarmonday blog post is for my bestie Jillian in NYC! I had the pleasure of introducing Jillian to the music of Scale Model in the past couple of years. Incidentally, Jillian is indirectly one of the reasons Nick & I moved to Tennessee - she was applying for a postdoc position here and we thought it might be neat to live near each other. And for three years, it was.
So anyway. Scale Model. Excellent synthpop music. They bring their own laser lights to shows. You can file them under #Nashville Bands That I Love, for sure. I met Meg (vocalist/keytar) at an after-hours business entrepreneur meet&greet thingie, and when she found out I photographed live music, she said "Hey wanna come photograph my band at the High Watt?" I said yes. I'm so glad I did.
If I were still a dj, you know I'd be dropping Scale Model songs into my mixes. Do yourself a favor and get some synthy groove on with Scale Model.
It's almost the end of 2020, y'all. I don't have grand pronouncements or lofty inspirational speech. I'm limping over this finish line like the rest - but when I'm in a funk light and music helps pull me out. So I hope my photos can do the same for you, if they inspire you to seek out music. Remembering live music sometimes makes me sad and restless for what I'm missing, but more often it reminds me of the joy of being there and seeing and hearing. That's something worth looking forward to.
